I agree...childhood is that blissful time when you discover the world. It is a sacred time that we can always go back to when we feel sad and low.

It determines how good or bad you are in the future...some people who have come to the dark side did not have such a great childhood....look at Voldemort...I think that is the point of HP when Dumbledore showed a glimpse of the dark wizard's childhood.
