Quitting Social Networks.

One person I know told friends that her new year's resolution include using Facebook for only an hour a week. I wonder how she can do that when there are loads of things to do in Facebook, and at this point, she is not even down to an hour a day. I know cause I see her posts. I realized that Facebook has become among the guilty pleasures of this era.

It will be hard to let go of social netwroking sites if you are far away from family and friends. Facebook and the like makes you feel that you are having recess and listening to your friends tell you about their lives and the latest trends. It's a blast to find out what my friends whom I have not seen in years look like and how they feel at this point. This is so important to us Filipinos since most of us have family and friends who are working abroad.

Facebook has different games that people can play with. A lot of my friends are addicted to these games and the fact that you can like play with your other friends makes it look like you are back in the front yard running around or playing pretend.

In short, we are all in a social networking site because we want to connect with others. We would like to let them know how we are, and we also would like to find out about them. Social networking sites bridge the gap between and among friends, and makes the world a smaller and hopefully, a better place for all of us. =)
